Steven Rand Retey of Eustis, Florida passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at the age of 79. Steve was born in Bedford, Ohio. He moved to Eustis from Ohio in the early 1960’s. Steve proudly served his country in the US Army Na Read Obituary
As a sitework company, we worked for Steve for a number of years on his many projects at Mission Inn. The scope of work varied from underground piping, to roadwork and bridges, and even included a skeet and trap range. We were always amazed that Steve could know so much about so many different things. He was the master of building anything with whatever resources he had available. And, he could do all of this while keeping everyone smiling. Steve was of the most the most fair, brilliant, and amicable of men. He will be greatly missed.

He was one of my most unforgettable men in my life. A significant chapter in my life, that enhanced me forever.
I met Steve in 1970 as a young student of horticulture and we became colleagues and friends for life. There were experiences both with Steve and about Steve, that still bring a smile and laughter to my life. You could always count on him to bring humor into every conversation . He was one of the most humble men I have ever known, and I will miss him greatly. His son, Jeff, was the crowning point of his life and Jeff also was the subject of his wonderful stories. I’ve have the opportunity to visit with Jeff several times, and those proud stories of Jeff, were spot on.
Sandra, his life long companion said it best, “ Steve blessed all of us”. And he did just that.

Our Lord blessed me "real good" when He
brought Steve, the finest man I have ever known,
into my life. (Plus, he loved cats.)
Memorial Day 1998 began our wonderful, shared
years together. Our love of just "hanging out"
together and doing "stuff" never ended!
I can still see his shining face and hear his
exuberant laughter and Steve loved to laugh!
It's hard for me to lose my best friend, Steve, but
all of the precious, beautiful memories are here for
me to enjoy.
