Robert C. Strong's Obituary
Robert “Bumpa” Clair Strong, 72, of Eustis, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at his home.
Robert was born on December 24, 1942, to Marie and Harry Strong in Chicago, Illinois, and moved to central Florida in 1977. On October 14, 1967, he married Lana Gene Wasmund, the love of his life. They were blessed with four children. Robert was self-employed as an owner-operator in the truck driving business for many years. He served our country as a paratrooper and medic in the army. He also coached Little League, volunteered as a coach on various sports teams at Faith Lutheran School and served as Chairman of the Congregation at Faith Lutheran Church of Eustis. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends playing cards; he usually won. Robert and Lana were avid world travellers whose journeys took them to exotic places such as France, Ireland, and the British Virgin Islands. Many fond memories were made camping and hiking with family at Deep Creek Campground in Bryson City, NC. His family and friends remember Robert most for his generous heart, easygoing spirit, dancing feet, and fun-loving attitude. He had a great time no matter where he was.
Robert will be dearly missed by his wife, Lana, of 48 years. He is survived by his four children; Robert (Kim) Strong of Belle Isle, Florida, Heather (John) Clendinen of Eustis, Florida, Koren (Jason) Obispo of Eustis, Florida, and Kimberlee (Jason) Munshower of St. Petersburg, Florida, along with 11 grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Eustis, Florida, on Saturday, December 12th, a luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers and cards, the family requests that donations be made to Matt and Dee Dee Wasmund. Matt is Robert’s nephew, who currently serves as a missionary in Seoul, Korea through Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Please click on the link below to make a donation.
