Robert H. "Bob" Bennett's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Bennett 88, of Apopka, passed away on Sunday, March 27th. Bob was born in Pleasureville, Kentucky. He is survived by his two sons; Wayne Bennett of Louisville, Kentucky and Mark Bennett of Atlanta, Georgia, three grandchildren, Nicole Bennett, Rosemary Alvey of Louisville, KY, John Bennett of Boston, MA and two great grandchildren, Emma Rose Alvey and Mary Catherine Alvey. He is also survived by his sister Rhelda Moore of Newcastle, KY and his brother W.T. Bennett of Indianapolis, IN.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dolores Bennett and his sister, Martha Johnson.
Bob grew up in Henry County, Kentucky, served in the Army Air Corps at the end of World War II, and worked in the Central Bank of Pleasureville for many years. He received recognition as a Kentucky Colonel for his service to his community and the State of Kentucky. Bob and family moved to Mount Dora in 1965 where he served as President of the Bank of Mount Dora until 1985. He then became Executive Vice President of Barnett Bank until his retirement in 1988. Bob continued to be active in the community until he moved to Errol Estates in 1996.
Bob will be remembered as a loving husband, father and dear friend to all those he has known throughout his life.
Visitation will be Wednesday at Hamlin and Hilbish Funeral Home in Eustis, Florida on Wednesday, March 30th from 5 until 7 PM. Graveside services will be Thursday at 11:00 AM in Pine Forest Cemetery in Mount Dora with Rev. Sandy Colley officiating.
