Mr. Crawford was a amazing man. He really loved all of his kids at Tavares Elementary and could remember their names years after they lefted Tavares. He will be missed greatly. Our prayers are with the Crawford family. The Pitts Family.

Skip and Dottie have been oh, such choice gifts to us here in Eustis, Altoona, Umatilla and Tavares ... being a fellow Marine with my favorite high school teacher (and his Marine wife!) was a special joy ... our custom was to acknowledge 10 November (the Corps' birthday) each year, usually by phone ... they were both very involved, down to the creative details, in our school projects like Class Night and homecoming floats but, especially, in the listening and wise counsel department.
It was not unusual for some of us to pop in on them unannounced on a saturday night our senior year (and beyond) .... Harrington, Couch, Eveland, Kurtz, Hippler and Barber come to mind ... out would come Dottie's fresh-baked cookies and a lot of lively conversation ... they loved on us, sure 'nuf.
Thank you, Lord, for sharing Skip Crawford with us!
Semper Fidelis,
Keith Oliver

He was a wonderful, praiseworthy principal at Tavares Elementary. A memorable moment we had with Skip was when we had our son in a play at school which I attended. During the play Skip took an urgent call from my wife at home. He came to me with the message that I need to hurry home. She said she's having a baby. Skip paused for a moment, then asked, "Is she kidding?" I laughed and said no. We welcomed our youngest into the world that night. A few years later this new arrival attended school under Principal Crawford's continued admirable tutelage. I suspect he knew he had the honor of getting the very first news of the pending arrival of one of his students.

So many memories. The toy store, the hay rides, hunting, fishing. I remember my mother asking Skip and Dottie if she could borrow her son back every now and then. They were the best people I've ever known. My Sincerest Condolences. Tom Hammons
