Yesterday we joined together to help
Celebrate a man my siblings and I always looked to as being “bigger than life”. Hearing Tai talk made me realize Mr. Parquet lives on on his sons and his grandchildren. I was blessed to have the Parquet family in my life in my childhood, and now. Thank you all, especially Cathy, for welcoming us in fellowship and love yesterday. Praying God holds you in the palm of his hand as you walk through this difficult journey. You will always be “Family” to us. We love you all! Love,Kasey, Trevor, Tighe, Brady and Kayden Carroll
Dear Kathy,
We extend our condolences to you and your family on the passing of our beloved Mel. It does not seem real that he is no longer with us. We grew to love Mel very much as he was such an honest and likeable person.
Take courage in the promises of our Heavenly Father. If we remain faithful... We'll be reunited with our loved ones soon.
Praying for you and your family!
Ann & Dennis
Cathy and Family,
We we so sad that Mel is gone to heaven. We are snowbirds and have known Mel and Cathy for 5 years. We became so close to them both that we were called family. Our winters won't be the same now. It's so sad to lose the ones we love the most.

Tai and Terry,
I never met your dad but I came to know him from our radio show. He was an amazing man . He raised you to be the good men you are today. I loved talking to him on the show and learning more about boxing from him.
I am sorry for your loss

Cathy, Tai, Terry and family,
The world was a better place because of Mel. His smile could sink an iceberg. His commitment to his friends and those around him was unending. Will Rogers never met him but wrote about him when he said " A man never stood so tall as when he bent to help a child". The proof of that is St. Peter's Cathedral school is still open 30 years after he led the charge to keep it open" . May the good Lord bless and keep all of you

To the Parquet and extended family:
I met Parquet in 1970 when he came to work for the State of Delaware at Youth Opportunity Center; we didn't click right then and there. Eventually we became friends. He worked as a counselor as did I. I had been working there just under a year when he arrived. We had our ups and downs but always a friend. After he relocated to Florida we still kept in touch. I will missed "older than me", yet though he always said I was older than him.
Sending my condolences to Cathy, his sons, his daughters, siblings and grandchildren. Just remember you will be with him one day.
With fond memories, Thelma M Jones, Wilmington, DE
