I knew him....long ago, almost in another life as my memory isn't what it used to be after major health issues. Going through my many 'logs/diaries' I found I met him- in 1978. It was only when I did an on-line search for the man I dubbed, 'Joebie Baby'- which I deemed an affectionate term of respect for a master guitarist- that I discovered he was gone from this life. I wrote a lot about my first meeting with Joe. Seems we quarreled during that first meeting- then became fast friends afterwards.. Ahhh...frustrating that I remember tid-bits only! Be well old friend, and at peace for eternity. We'll play together again one day....

I had the privilege of living next door to Joseph, he and I went fishing at Elbow Beach.
We used to bring the lobsters in and cook them on the beach.
Joseph taught me how to work on engines, and how to play the guitar.
Our sincere condolences to all of the family.

Joe was so generous and gave me guitar lessons for free. I almost fell over the first time I saw him play. His style put me to shame. We spent many hours together, talking, playing and praying. He would cry as he laid hands on me and beg God to give me the gift that God had given him. It was out special time together and I cherish each moment. I am a professional guitarist and have a clear understanding of many musical styles. Then.. I heard joe play..... Wow. He enriched my entire style and opened up the fretboard. I teach guitar now and use many of his teaching methods with my students. Play one for me, joe.
