Jim Calvin, 68, passed away on April 30th, 2021. Jim grew up in Eustis with his parents, Bill and Dorothy Calvin. His love of the ocean began at an early age while accompanying his father on fishing trips out of the Daytona Beach Read Obituary
I just found out today, I lost touch a few years ago. I was first introduced to Jim in 2005 through the dive shop and wanting to learn to dive. We fished many times in the Gulf and shared many a meal. I will never forget Jim and I will miss his corny sense of humor.

I can only imagine the countless stories and memories that live on because of such a wonderful man, mentor, teacher and friend that Jim was to a great many of us. He will forever live on in my heart as he certainly had more than a helping hand in making me the man I am today. His kindness and humor were matched only by his ability to memorize every number he came across or to perform calculations in his head on the fly. Best boss, friend and mentor I’ve ever known.
I only knew Jim for a few months. What a great guy. I went to have my equipment repaired and we ended up eating lunch at Olive Garden. He did a great job of setting up my son and daughter in law with equipment and a dive guide. Just a really likeable guy. He will be missed.
Jim, Joyce, and Jere have been friends for over 20 years plus up to 40 years. We were always treated with respect by Jim and looked for ways to enjoy his diving and service to others. In our humble opinion, he brought joy and happiness to many people. We have never met a better Diver. Both Jim and Jere share a common background of serving on Submarines in the US Navy. (Brothers with Dolphins). Yes, he will be missed but never forgotten. May he Rest in Peace.
I remember Jim just hanging in a perfect buoyancy position at Orange Grove during my first cavern course. I will always think of him like that, in complete control. A big man with a heart of gold. He will be missed .
We will miss him! Always enjoyed our visits to the shop. He always took time to provide guidance, counsel and explanations. His generosity of self was effortless. We enjoyed our discussions and his sharing of his experiences in diving, as former military ...he always found a way to make us laugh. We had the opportunity to be part of dive trips to Little Cayman, as he said, a spot he wants to go back to every year. An amazing person, underwater photographer.
