James Avant Livingston's Obituary
James Avant Livingston was born in Umatilla, Florida January 29, 1928 with twin brother the late Jack Livingson to Dewey Harold and Louise Vaughn Livingston. He graduated Eustis High School in 1947. Jim was married to the late Virginia Britt Livingson in 1951. Jim worked in his parents' packing house for many years until he joined the National Guard. He shot competition pistol and rifle for the Army/National Guard and received the distinguished Shooter's record for the Army in 1985. During 1950-1955 he was Marksmanship instructor for his unit. The rifle team he instructed placed first in the State of Florida for three years. He started Eustis Gun Club in its' original location and ran pistol matches there for many years. He retired from the National Guard in 1988. He was a Lake County deputy and worked under the late Willis McCall and Malcolm McCall. He retired from the Sheriff's Department in 1981. He was an officer for the Tavares Police Department 1974-76. He owned and operated JVL RV and Boat Storage since 1988 until recently. Jim leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Edith Yon Brown Livingston, sons, Robert (Lori) and David (Debbie) both of Eustis. Daughter, Sharon Moussette (Ron) of Fruitland Park Granddaughter, Trisha Peckham (Mike) of Eustis and Grandson Shane Livingston of Alt. Spgs. And the loves of his life, three Great Grandchildren, Allison, Abigail and Alex Peckham. Step son Bradley Brown (Angie) of Colorado, one step grandson, Justin Brown and Step daughter Brenda Dickey of Cumming, GA, two step grandchildren, Mikayla and Brian and a devoted dog, Gator.Jim loved to travel, hunt and fish. He enjoyed having large gatherings especially for fish fries. He was blessed with a multitude of close friends and will be greatly missed by many. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park, Road, Tavares, FL 32778.Friends visited at the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Monday, March 23, from 10 AM until 12 Noon. Graveside services were held in Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis at 2 PM Monday with Rev. Leon Bloder of the First Presbyterian Church of Eustis officiating.
