Dear Edie, I thought of you and Jim so much after you called on Wednesday evening, and then I learned today that he died on Thursday. How sad you must be. I'm so glad that you were expecting Brenda on Thursday. Having her there was surely a blessing. Jim's obituary was very well done. He had a long, busy life! And the two of you together surely made a lot happen - for so many others as well. Ann and I will always be grateful for your gracious invitations - for Thanksgiving, Christmas, other - when Mema lived at Lou's. You and Jim truly did always have an "open door!" I'll be in Vilano Beach beginning tomorrow, looking after my greatniece; otherwise, I would come to Eustis on Monday to see you and your families. Our personal condolences to the family.I (Albie) met Jim many years ago, and later both served together at the Tavares Police Department, and later at the Lake County Sheriff's Office.We remember Jim for both his friendship, and professionalism, and his ability to transend from serious to jokester as the need arose.Kathleen new Jim through Law Enforcement, however never had the pleasure of serving directly with him.Albie will forever recall his advise, mentoring alongside another friend, Don Scism. Jim inspired Albie to never accept second best. We both bantered together to keep our wits sharp.Albie will always recall Jim's secrecy of his middle name, which became a "contest" once to discover other than the initial. A steak dinner in Tavares was the prize.
