William McKinley Rhodes, Jr.'s Obituary
William McKinley Rhodes, Jr. of Umatilla passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023. He was 75. Bill was born in Jacksonville, Florida and moved to Mount Dora as a child. He attended Mount Dora High School through his sophomore year where he played football until he transferred to Eustis High School where he played until he graduated. He went on to attend and play football at Florida State University. Bill worked as a beekeeper for 45 years until his retirement in 2021. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to play Golf, go hunting and fishing, and play tennis.
Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anna; sons and daughters-in-law, William McKinley Rhodes III and Anneliese of Tallahassee and Robert Preston Rhodes and Rebecca of Mount Dora; brother Michael (Sharon) Blocker of Eustis and grandchildren, Georgia, Preston, Brady, Gracie, Payge, Pierce and Brooklyn.
A memorial ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 20 at 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Umatilla.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s honor to the Rhodes Family Athletic Scholarship Fund.
