Wayne R. Wagner's Obituary
Wayne R. Wagner - A Beloved Husband, Father, Brother, and Friend
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Wayne R. Wagner on Friday, June 20, 2025, at the age of 77. Born in Elmira, New York, Wayne lived a life rich in love, laughter, and community. His journey, marked by wit and a genuine passion for life, touched the hearts of everyone he met.
Wayne found his life’s greatest joy in his marriage to his beloved Carol. The couple united on August 22, 1970, embarking on nearly 55 years of shared adventures and unwavering devotion. In June 2021, they made their permanent home in this community, having previously embraced the snowbird lifestyle between Pittsford, New York, and warmer climes. Their lives together were a testament to partnership, love, and the cherished art of creating home wherever they went.
For the last 20 years of his working life, Wayne dedicated himself to car sales—a career that not only provided a livelihood but also allowed him to connect with countless people through his incredible sense of humor and warm personality. Retiring in 2018, he turned his attention to the pleasures of life: tending to his yard and garden, watching football and hockey, and embracing every moment of spirited conversation and laughter. Wayne’s enthusiasm for sports was especially evident at the hockey games he attended with his daughter, Ashley, during her college years—a testament to his commitment to family and the joy he found in shared experiences.
A true people person, Wayne also discovered a passion for golf, happily assisting at the local golf course. There, he not only enjoyed the game but also relished the opportunity to socialize with friends and neighbors—a reflection of his ever-present desire to brighten the lives of those around him. His infectious humor and genuine warmth made every interaction meaningful and memorable.
Wayne was preceded in death by his brothers, William and Richard Wagner. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Carol; his cherished daughter, Ashley; his brothers, Mark Wagner and Walt (Donna) Wagner; his sisters, Diana (James) Wilson, Debbie Rock, Elaine Patten, Karen Greeno, and Cheryl Andrews; and his sisters-in-law, Pat Wagner and Joanne Wagner.
