Thomas G. Riddle's Obituary
Thomas G. Riddle of Mount Dora, Florida passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020 at the age of 88 years. He was born in Gadsden, Alabama to William N. and Mary Emma (West) Riddle. At the age of 17, he joined the US Air Force. Tom proudly served his country for more than 21 years before he retired as a Tech Sergeant. He was stationed in the Philippines, Korea, Iceland, and many other places around the world, serving during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Shortly after his military career, Tom moved to Orlando from Sumter, South Carolina. He worked as a mail handler for the US Postal Service until he retired. Tom loved fishing. He was Baptist but found Jesus on the Golf course and fishing on the lake. He was an avid Golfer and made his last hole-in-one when he was 83 years old. He was also an Alabama Crimson Tide fan, earning him the nickname “Tom Roll Tide Riddle”.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Ruth Langley Riddle in 2008. He is remembered and will be dearly missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Lori A. and Paul F. Tucker of Mount Dora; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew G. and Lucy Riddle of Mount Dora; son, Troy L. Riddle of Ocala, Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Gid and Sandra Riddle of Alabama; 5 grandchildren and 4 ½ great grandchildren; as well as his Jack Russel Terrier, Joie who was his girl for 15 years.
A private memorial service will be held in h is honor. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared on the tribute wall.
