Stephen Kohutanycz's Obituary
Stephen Kohutanycz, age 88, of Eustis, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026.
Born on December 7, 1937, Stephen lived a full and meaningful life marked by hard work, humor, and dedication to his family. He spent much of his career as a Stationary Engineer with the New York Board of Education before retiring.
Stephen shared 53 loving years of marriage with his beloved wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Kohutanycz, until her passing. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two children. Though he deeply mourned the loss of Dottie, Stephen was blessed to find companionship and love again with Carol Ann Kohutanycz, whom he married in Arizona on June 13, 2013. In their retirement years, Stephen and Carol Ann embraced a spirit of adventure, traveling across the United States in their RV before settling in Florida in 2018. Together, they enjoyed many happy years filled with laughter, friendship, travel, and treasured moments.
Stephen was known for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor. He had a passion for building and creating, always finding satisfaction in working with his hands. He treasured time spent with family and friends, especially when gathered around a good meal and sharing stories that brought laughter to everyone present.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Tuccitto and his father, John Kohutanycz, and other beloved family members.
Stephen is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Carol Ann Kohutanycz; his children, Karen Ann Terry and her husband Ron, and Stephen John Kohutanycz and his wife Melody; and his stepdaughter, Julie Myers. He is also survived by his sister, Frances.
He leaves behind a large and loving family, including his grandchildren Nicole (Scott) Vincent, Bryan (Kristen) Terry, Melody (Tyler) Mullis, Stephen Kohutanycz, and John Kohutanycz, along with four great-grandchildren. He is also remembered by his step-grandchildren Sam (Bethany Brewer) Myers, Terrence Brogan, Amber Trzecki, and Logan Trzecki, along with five additional great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Stephen’s life will be held at his home at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages loved ones to honor Stephen by sharing a meal, a laugh, or a kind moment with those closest to them—just as he would have wanted.
