Shirley Ann Hampton's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Shirley Ann Hampton
Shirley Ann Hampton departed this life peacefully on March 5, 2026. Born on April 10, 1932 in Somerset, Pennsylvania. Shirley’s early years were spent in her hometown before her family relocated to Umatilla, Florida in the late 1940’s. It was there that she met Don S. Hampton Jr. The couple enjoyed a loving marriage that endured for over 70 years until Don’s passing in December of 2022.
Shirley and Don chose Umatilla as their home, where they raised three daughters. Shirley was deeply involved in the local community, actively participating in the Red Stocking Review through the 1960s and early 1970s. She also contributed her time by working the concession stand at football games, with proceeds supporting the establishment of the Umatilla High School Band. In addition to her community service, Shirley was an avid bridge player and enjoyed competing with friends and neighbors.
After retiring, Shirley and Don embarked on travels throughout the Southeast, selling their handmade wares at craft shows for many years. Shirley’s legacy continues through her surviving daughters—Vanessa Hampton, Donna Hampton, and Karen Kim Beisley—as well as seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her oldest daughter, Vickie Lynn Hampton.
