Sheila Deane Gross' Obituary
Sheila Deane Walker Gross, age 73, passed away peacefully after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer, on Thursday, March 13, 2025. Born on February 12, 1951, in Birmingham, Alabama, Sheila’s life was filled with a rich tapestry of love and devotion.
Sheila’s journey led her to meet her soulmate, David Gross, with whom she shared an enduring love story. They were married on May 22, 2004, and cherished every moment of their time together until David’s passing in November 2022.
For 25 years, Sheila worked as a service manager in the generator business, where her diligence and expertise left an indelible mark on colleagues and clients alike. A woman of faith, she was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Stockbridge, Georgia, and found great joy in participating in the Joyful Noisemakers group and teaching Sunday School. Her dedication to teaching the word could even be seen right up until her passing.
Sheila found the most joy in surrounding herself with family and friends, no matter the occasion. Her dedication to including and loving people unconditionally was an amazing example of her Christian values and made an immense difference in many lives.A proud Alabama Football fan, she cheered passionately for her team with an unwavering spirit. Fortunately, most of her family shared this same sentiment and she always did "bless the hearts" of any who did not believe in uttering the words "Roll Tide" on a daily basis.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Gross; son, Joe David Terrell, II; nephews, Zack and Joshua Patterson; brother, Eddie Walker; brother-in-law, Bob Tate; and parents Leland and Barbara Nelson Walker.
Sheila is survived by her daughter, Jaime (Christopher) Eaton of Eustis, Florida; stepson, Samuel Gross, Ellenwood, GA; her cherished grandchildren, Anthony (Lily) Quarnoccio of Naval Base San Diego, California, and Alexa Quarnoccio of Eustis, FL; and her loving sisters, Glenda Tate of Stayton, Oregon and Norma (Billy) Henley of Gardendale, Alabama; as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Jaime and Christopher want to give a special thanks to the Bob (aka Allen) Walker family for their love and support over the last year and a half as Sheila battled her illness with a true warrior spirit.
