Sharon Lea Fonner's Obituary
Sharon Lea Fonner of Tavares, FL passed away on July 4, 2026 surrounded by her family. Sharon was born in Washington, PA on October 28, 1943 to Salvatore(Samuel) Foglia and Elizabeth(Provenzano) Foglia. She graduated from Trinity High School and then studied at Penn Commercial Business Technical school, where she earned her cosmetology license. On July 27, 1968 Sharon married Robert Leslie Fonner in Washington, PA. They have two children Leslie and Scott. She was a devoted mother and wife. She enjoyed cooking and becoming involved in her children’s lives.
In 1984 Sharon earned her PA Real Estate License and began to sell Real Estate. For the next 12 years this was her passion. During this time she progressed to receive her PA Brokers License. She would go on to run the Northwood Realty BH&G Peters Township office and had a very successful career. She became the President of the Washington/ Green County Board of Realtors. In 1996 Sharon and her family would move to Orlando,FL. Here she worked for Marriott Vacation Club International selling vacation packages. She enjoyed this as she loved to speak with people and really enjoyed her coworkers.
But undoubtedly her most favorite hobby and pastime became spending time with her granddaughter Aubrey Pecota with whom she had an incredibly special bond. Her happiest times were when she was with her children, grandchild, and family. Sharon was a devout Christian and strong believer in her faith. She was raised a Catholic, baptized at Saint Hilary Church in Washington, PA.
During the last couple of years Sharon enjoyed spending time with her newly made friends at their apartment complex either having lunch or simply sitting on the veranda or in the library. She also enjoyed playing solitaire on her iPad, as well as different word games.
Sharon was an amazing lady and a true fighter. During her lifetime she fought and came back completely from a stroke and ovarian cancer. She fought until the very end to spend as much time with her family, as they were her true purpose in life. She was and is a beautiful person who is extremely loving and caring. She will be incredibly missed and loved!!
She is survived by her daughter - Leslie Pecota (Clifford), son - Robert Scott Fonner (Samantha), Granddaughter - Aubrey Pecota and her animal grandchildren - Fawn, Ellie and Murray. She is also survived by many close nieces, nephews and great- nieces and great -nephews.
Sharon is preceded in death by her father - Salvatore and Elizabeth Foglia, husband - Robert L. Fonner, sisters - Angela Sonson, Eleanor Campagna, Joan Calabro and brothers - Richard Foglia and Robert Foglia.
A private service will be held on Wednesday July 15, 2026 at 1 PM at Lakeside Memory Gardens in Eustis, FL.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society
Sharon truly enjoyed life! She enjoyed celebrating and spending time with her family filled with laughter and love! She will be perpetually remembered and loved feverishly!
