Hey Snoopy. We had our 50 year high school reunion a year ago and I made sure your picture was front and center on the table of those who passed on. Some came asking about you and each time it was hard to say. Many would love to have seen you. So many friends gone so soon 🥹. I’ve read all the remembrances here and you were special to many but I knew that would be the case. It’s you. It’s easy to love you and I’m happy so many did. Until….
Sarah and I shared birthdays within 5 days of each other. She was 5 days older than me and she would have been 67 today. I began thinking about her yesterday, my mother’s birthday, and haven’t stopped since for I knew her differently than most. I was her high school boyfriend. I saw her from across the gym at the beginning of senior year and told the Vice Principal beside me that I was going to know her and be her boyfriend. She was beautiful with a tender smooth face and long dark hair. I was lucky to be her guy during senior year. She got me interested in tennis and taught me how to play. She was patient for I was a jock always trying to kill the ball and she showed me the secret to finesse which I’ve used in my life since. We parted ways after her first year at FSU but have always remained friends. Her Snoopy artistry was awesome back in high school and she drew a picture of Snoopy hugging Charlie Brown in my yearbook with the caption “A picture is worth a thousand words”. She was right and she never had to explain her feelings to me. I visited her twice while she lived in Eustis. She absolutely loved her work and her students and living there. Her students were really her kids as she never married or had children of her own. She also loved horses and was so happy when she bought her home and could keep horses there with her. Sarah was so loving. I’ve read here that she was tuff but I think I might remember that as determined because I knew her soft side and she was very loving and emotional at times.
Sarah I have always loved you; I love you still; I will love you forever for you affected my life in many positive ways and I hope you’re sharing your talent with angels. ❤️ I miss you
She really was an awesome art teacher. I had her class a few times from '85-'89 and it was a sad surprise when I found she had passed. :( RIP. friend.
Sorry I'm way late posting; this really is very sad. She was my teacher '85-'89-drawing/painting. Definitely her classes were interesting. Ms. Bartko is greatly missed.
Jeff and I met Sarah around 6 years ago at a West Coast Swing dance class, She was a great dancer, and was always a fun person to be around. We will miss you Sarah

Today I was thinking of Sarah and wondering what she was up to since I had not seen her at dance classes for sometime. So I Googled her name and found this obituary. I am sadden by her loss -- she was such a wonderful lady and friend. I met Sarah about 10 years ago at west coast swing dance classes. We continued to keep in contact through weekly dance classes over the subsequently years, and I always looked forward to seeing her. In 2012 I commissioned Sarah to do a dance painting of myself and my significant other, Judy Morris, based upon some photos she had taken at a recent dance class. The painting is one of my prized possessions and hangs in the entry way to my home. May Sarah RIP, and I will miss her company on and off the dance floor.

Ms. Bartko was my art teacher in 2001-2002 while I was a senior. I still have a coil vase that I made in her class at my house. She was a great teacher and I'm very sad to hear about her passing. All my sympathies to her family, thank you for sharing her with me for that year of my life.
