Sara Elizabeth Payne's Obituary
Sara Elizabeth Payne of Grand Island, Florida passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the age of 81 years. She was born in Cumberland, Maryland. Sara was a teacher, enlightening children from elementary school to high school. She was teaching elementary school in Front Royal, Virginia when she retired after 38 years. She moved to Florida in 2008 and married Herman Payne. The husbands and wives were lifelong friends and they both lost their spouses. After a short courtship, they decided to marry. Sara was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Lake County Republican Club. She was preceded in death by Herman just a week prior to her passing. Sara is remembered and will be dearly missed by her daughter, Rebecca (Barrett) Brunton of Round Hill, Virginia; sons, Louis (Tasha) Dashiell of Lovettsville, Virginia and John (Kathryn) Dashiell of Ashburn, Virginia; step-daughter’s Kathleen (Scott) Massey of Indiantown, Florida and Debbie (Jimmy) McGrann of Maryland; step-son, James (Debra) Payne of Maryland; sister, Jeannette Burroughs of Virginia; grandchildren, Margaret and Mary and her dog, Sadie.
