I am saddened to hear of Sal's passing. Our families were next door neighbors in Bayonne NJ for many years starting in the 1950s. At my age 4 or 5 Sal was my first childhood friend. I remember sitting with Sal in the hallway of my parents home reading Superman comics. I remember the day Sal's dad passed away and hearing Sal crying; it was my first experience with death which of course as a child I did not understand. I remember playing ping pong with Sal in his family garage. We haven't seen each other in decades. All these many years later they remain best neighbors my family ever had. Rest in peace my first friend. My most sincere condolences to Sal's family. Joe Paonessa
I would like to express my deepest sympathies to Sal's wife, Pam, and the rest of his family. I met Sal in August of 1967 -- the month my mom moved the family from Jersey City to Bayonne, following the death of my father just three months earlier. We were both 16 years of age. I soon considered Sal to be my best friend, and we shared many fun times as we eventually said goodbye to our fabulous teen years and entered adulthood. I was honored to have him as best man at my marriage in 1973. I'll always remember Sal as the friendly, kind, and gentle person he was throughout his life, and will forever treasure the memories of our years in "Dino's Gang".

It is with such sadness I write this. Sal Ali lived next door to us in Manalapan when we moved here in 1977. Sal and Pam moved in at the same time we did. We have such wonderful memories of our lives and all the adventures- and believe me they were adventures Just in Manalapan NJ. Sal was a volunteer fireman with Gordon’s Corner Firehouse. It never failed that when we got together for dinner, the siren went off! We would all say simultaneously “bye Sal”. Sal loved his children Dawn and Tony! They have been a big support to Pam who has never stopped her caring for him during his many illnesses. We will never forget the many good times we had as neighbors and even after when you moved to Florida. May the angels embrace you and give your family strength during this difficult time! 🙏🏻🙏🏻😢💔 Love Daria and Mike
