Russell Clark Cheatham
June 7, 1955 – January 9, 2026
Russell Clark Cheatham, 70, of Eustis, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026. Born on June 7, 1955, in Eustis, Russell was a lifelong resident who dedicated his life to family, service, and the outdoors.
He proudly served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Ranger Division. He was known to many from his dad’s Amoco station in Mount Dora and later built a distinguished career with Lake County in Mosquito Control and Aquatic Plant Management, where he worked as a director until his retirement in 2022. Russell was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Umatilla and married the love of his life, Lisa, in 1997 at the original First Baptist Church of Umatilla.
An avid outdoorsman, Russell loved fishing and spent many years as a passionate hunter. His willingness to help others was never ending. Everyone knew who to call for any mechanical issue or repair. He proudly passed on his knowledge of all things to both of his young grandsons. His warmth, humor, and love for nature will be remembered by all who knew him.
Russell is survived by his wife, Lisa Cheatham; daughter, Keirsten Cheatham; sister, Becky Boxx; and two cherished grandchildren, Liam Turner and Lukas Turner.
There will be a celebration of life will be held on Sunday February 8, 2026, at Hickory Point Pavilion from 1PM - 4PM. Please dress casual or in your fishing clothes, and feel free to bring your poles!
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Kids Fishing Foundation.
