Roy R. Gregory's Obituary
Roy R. Gregory, 89 of Eustis passed away in Mount Dora on Monday July 27, 2009. He was born in Gratton, Virginia and moved here from Seymour, Tennessee in 1988. Mr. Gregory was a long time resident in Abingdon Virginia. He retired as a Line Inspector from Appalachian Power Company in 1977 after 32 years of service. Mr. Gregory served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He attended the Abingdon Baptist Church of Abingdon, VA. Mr. Gregory was very active in many of the youth activities including baseball, football, basketball and scouts in Abingdon. He also umpired high school baseball for many years in Southwest Virginia. Mr. Gregory was survived by his wife Faye, his sons Charles R. Gregory of Johnson City, Tennessee, Gary Lee Gregory of Leesburg, Florida, Michael D. Gregory and wife Joy of Cape Coral, Florida, George R. Gregory and wife Dianna of Knoxville, Tennessee, Roy Scott Gregory and wife Keiko of Lompoc, California, and Mark Alan Gregory of Leesburg, Florida, twenty grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Mr. Gregory was predeceased by his daughter Mattie Ellen Gregory on April 10, 2000. Memorial services were held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Saturday August 1, 2009 at 10 AM with Rev. William Boyer officiating.
