Rodrigo Cruz delos Trinos' Obituary
Rodrigo Cruz delos Trinos, Sr., “Rod” 79, of Key West, passed away in Orlando on January 22, 2015. He was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. He joined the United States Navy in 1960 and was eventually stationed in Key West in 1983. He retired from the United States Navy after a distinguished 24 year career with combat service in the Vietnam War and Operation Urgent Fury in Grenada. He was a member of the Basilica of Saint Mary Star of the Sea of Key West where he did volunteer work including working in St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen. Rodrigo was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was a founding member of the Philippine Friendship Society of Key West. He is survived by his wife Carmelita; they were married for 49 years. Also surviving are his children; Avelyn (Brian) Christian of Mount Dora, Florida; Rod, Jr. (Denise) Delostrinos of Key West; Brian (Leilani) Delostrinos of Apopka, Florida; and Carolyn (John) Sheldon of Key West, his sisters; Leticia delos Trinos and Belen Reyes, 12 grandchildren: Steven, David, Ashley (Marcus), Christopher, Felicity, Lance, Emily, Alyssa, Meredith, Jacob, Benjamin, and Sarah; and one great grandson, Matthew.
