Robert W. Laffin's Obituary
Robert W. Laffin, Sr., 95, formerly of Eustis and Mount Dora, died on December 24, 2011, while he was in Montana. Bob was born in Vermont and was a graduate of Bowdoin College in Maine. He was a English major, a champion ski jumper and a musician. He was previously married to Lisl Durrance and is survived by three sons, Peter, Christopher and Rob of that marriage. After a divorce he married Christine Kanar, in 1972, in Eustis. Her son Stephen Kanar and his wife Carol, and her daughter Margaret (Kanar) Yonkovich, with her husband David and their three children enjoyed many years together with Bob as a close family. Christine died in 2009. Bob was an accomplished businessman. He started and managed several businesses before and after his migration to Florida. Bob is survived by a sister, Jane Perry, of Virginia. He has many other relatives and friends. Bob found something good in everyone he met and loved his dog Charlie. There will be no local services.
