R. Eugene "Gene" Isted's Obituary
R. Eugene “Gene” Isted 93, of Eustis, passed away on December 26, 2012. He was born in Lewistown, Illinois and moved here in 1925. He was a Certified Public Accountant and the retired President and Chairman of the Board of The First State Bank and Trust Company of Eustis, currently Wells Fargo Bank. Gene was a member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Eustis and was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army during World War II, he rose to the rank of Major. As a young man Gene was a member of the Eustis Boys Band. He was also the Past President of the Eustis Kiwanis Club. He is survived by his wife Yvonne, his children Raymond E. (Dory) Isted II of Leesburg, Steven L. (Dayle) Isted of Tallahassee and Lisa S. (Steven) Cain of Columbus, Georgia, stepchildren Dr. Jack Parker of Longwood and Melissa (Bob) St. Louis-Curry of Eustis, eight grandchildren, four step grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. The family received friends in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Friday from 3 until 5 PM, memorial services were held in the First Presbyterian Church of Eustis at 10 AM Saturday with Rev. Leon Bloder officiating. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis. The family requests memorials to the organ fund at The First Presbyterian Church of Eustis or Cornerstone Hospice.
