Mama Jean had so many wonderful facets to her wonderful life. She was beautiful, educated, professional, compassionate, diplomatic, spicy, sharp minded, loving, incredibly fun, and more than occasionally sassy. Jean touched many lives, thousands would be a conservative number, during her service at NAS Oceana Child Development Center and the NAS Oceana Chapel. It didn’t matter if the person in need was an infant or a senior citizen, Jean welcomed all into her life with compassion, wit, and love. Mama Jean also raised some of the staff st NAS Oceana Child Development Center with love, occasionally tough love, when called for. I worked with Mama Jean from 1981 until she retired from the CDC in the early 2000’s. So many wonderful memories of taking classes together, working with her, experiencing life’s lessons with her by my side, teaching me humor and humbleness. Jean coordinated my wedding day. I am forever grateful for having had Mama Jean in my life. The world was a better place for her being in it. I truly send my deepest condolences to Ken, Kenneth, Darcie, Jeanie, Laura, Billy, John, and the entire Lyle family.
