Phyllis E. Dempsey's Obituary
Mrs. Phyllis E. Dempsey of Altoona, FL passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at the age of 90 years. She was born in Washington, DC. Phyllis worked as a clerk for Commercial Sheering in Youngstown, Ohio before retiring. She and her husband Jack lived in Tavares, FL until 2001 when they moved to Lakeview Terrace in Altoona. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tavares. Phyllis enjoyed making crafts and ceramics. She is remembered by her husband of 41 years, John W. “Jack” Dempsey; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Byrla Dempsey of Ocala; brother, David (Jeanne) Walters of Jacksonville, AL; several nieces and nephews, as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews.Friends were invited to gather for viewing on Tuesday, January 17, from 11:00 am – 12:00 noon at Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel in Eustis. A graveside ceremony followed at 12:30 pm at Lakeside Memory Gardens in Eustis.Following the burial, a memorial ceremony was held at Lakeview Terrace in Altoona starting at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday as well.Arrangements are entrusted to Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Directors, Eustis, FL, 352-357-4193.
