Philip E. Sampson's Obituary
Philip E. Sampson 77, of Grand Island, Florida, passed away on January 14, 2011. He was born in Charleston, West Virginia and moved here from Pittsburgh in 1992. Mr. Sampson was a retired Mechanical Engineer for Westinghouse Corporation, a member of Micarta Lodge at Westinghouse, a Baptist and a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Air Force. He is survived by his children, Daniel E. Sampson of Irmo, South Carolina and Mary S. (Scott) Taylor of Newnan, Georgia, his grandchildren Matthew Garland of Austin, Texas and Katie Taylor of Newnan, Georgia. Mr. Sampson was predeceased by his wife Shirley B. in 2001 and his daughter Evelyn Garland in 2009. Services were held in the Eustis Chapel of Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Directors at 11 AM Thursday, January 20, 2011 with Rev. Bill Dodd officiating. The family received friends from 10 AM until the funeral hour. Interment is in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. You may leave a condolence for the family by signing the guest book below.
