Peter Christopher Jackson's Obituary
Peter Christopher Jackson tragically passed away suddenly while at work in Mount Dora, FL. As most know, Peter had open heart surgery at the age of thirteen and his heart condition would present problems periodically throughout his life. Sadly, his heart issues caught up with him and he suffered a fatal event. Peter was born in Winter Park, FL and was raised in Eustis, FL. He graduated high school from The Bolles School in Jacksonville, FL where he excelled as a pitcher on their nationally recognized baseball team. Peter then attended Elon College in North Carolina where he furthered his baseball career. One year later, he took his talents to West Palm Beach and continued playing baseball at Northwood University. Peter received his Bachelor’s Degree from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL and later received a Master’s Degree from Florida State University.
Peter spent much of his professional life as an educator and baseball coach. Recently, he discovered his true calling was helping others in the form of providing high-end finish carpentry. Peter truly was a master carpenter. Peter is survived by his only child, Jordanne Jackson. He was always a father first and no words can adequately describe the intense love and pride he had in Jordanne. Their connection is like no other. Peter is also survived by his parents Elizabeth and John Jackson, his bothers Alan of Eustis, FL, Mark (Joi) of Eustis, FL and his sister Anne Veneziano of Mount Dora, FL. Peter is further survived by his nieces and nephews: Nick, Alex, Aubrey, Ava, Chase, Davis and Emma Grace. He was always there for his family and loved them all dearly.
Peter was an “encourager”. Baseball was a big part of his life, from youth leagues through college. He was always “in the game” supporting his fellow team members. Peter was a loyal and positive influence and never spoke negatively of others. As a coach, he encouraged the players to improve each day. He would often say, “Just keep at it and be a little better today than you were yesterday”. As an uncle, Peter was always available to help fine tune fundamentals and prepare for the season or the ever-stressful tryout. He did not criticize or complain; he just worked on having others do their best. Peter was the friend you could count on for anything. He always put others first.
His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Eustis, 117 South Center Street, Eustis, FL 32726. A lunch will follow in the Fellowship Hall. His friends and family will be provided the opportunity to share memories as we honor him. Peter’s family looks forward to hearing stories and comments from those who loved him. His daughter, Jordanne, is particularly interested in hearing about her dad’s “glory days” playing college baseball. In lieu of flowers, Peter’s family requests donations be made in his name to any local youth sports program that is meaningful to you.
Condolences, memories and photos may be shared on the tribute wall.
