Paul McLean's Obituary
MCLEAN, RAYMOND PAUL - The passing of Paul McLean of Eustis, FL occurred peacefully Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care facility in Tavares Florida following a brief illness. In the days prior he was surrounded by his loving Sister and Brother-n-Law Patricia and Robert Lewis, daughter Beth McLean and close family friends Pete and Jo Anne Wardlaw. Born on June 16th, 1945 in Chatham, NB, he was the son of the late Raymond and Muriel (Jardine) McLean.
Paul was a skilled and dedicated horse trainer for most of his life. Beginning in Canada and traveling West to Hollywood Park, California. He made his way east; and trained standard bread horses at all the major tracks and stables. He loved spending time with his daughter Beth and beloved granddaughter Carleigh McLean. He enjoyed summer visits to Vermont to see them where they would often visit his favorite track, Saratoga (NY). Ironically, his beloved sister Amy Denton died 24 hours prior to his passing in New Brunswick, Cananda. Although a tragic time for the McLean family they take solace in the fact that they are together watching over them.
Paul is survived by his loving daughter Catharine (Beth) McLean, granddaughter, Carleigh Elizabeth McLean, sister, Patricia Lewis (Robert) of Fredericton, NB; Brother-n-Law, Lloyd Denton, NB; nephew's Steven Lewis (Stacy Coy) of Fredericton, NB; David Lewis and Andrew Lewis both of Fredericton, NB.
A small family gathering will be held this summer to celebrate his life. Contributions can graciously be made to the Cornerstone Hospice of Tavares, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778.
