Nona "Jeanette" Charles' Obituary
Nona Jeanette Charles, known to everyone as Jeanette, of Leesburg, Florida passed away peacefully in hospice care on September 17, 2024, at the age of 93. She was born in Pikeville, Kentucky to her parents Rell and Minnie Elkins on February 9, 1931. Jeanette and her family moved from Kentucky to Orlando in 1959. Jeanette was a personal banker for SunTrust Bank, and retired in 1992. The family then moved to Leesburg in 1996. She was a member of the Welcome Home Christian Church. In her spare time, she would crochet, quilt, and bake. When she visited her other home in North Carolina she would sit with the elderly in nursing homes and read in her spare time.
Jeanette met the love of her life Clyde at her sweet sixteen birthday party. They were married for 50 years. Jeanette is preceded in death by her husband Clyde, her sister Geri Pietschman, and her brother John Edmonds.
Jeanette is survived by her children Rhonda (Samuel) Tesauro, Sandra (James) Roach; sister Jackie Duckett of Etowah, North Carolina; grandchildren Scott Roach, Bill (Wei) Roach, Jimmy (Larenda) Roach, Karen (Bob) Partain; great grandchildren Madison (Ted) Marks, Nathan Partain, Shane (Tiffany) Partain, James Roach, Meghan Roach; great great grandchildren Leo Marks, Emma, Skylar, Maverick, Zoeigh, Addison, and Torbin.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at Hamlin and Hilbish on Tuesday September 24, 2024, from 11 AM - 12 PM. A Service will then follow at 12 PM. She will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Gotha, Florida, immediately following the service.
Parking for Hamlin & Hilbish will be in the parking lot next to Lake Eustis Christian Church. There will be cones, a sign, and possible police assistance with crossing.
