Nannie Franklin "Nan" Kirkpatrick's Obituary
Nannie Franklin “Nan” Kirkpatrick 87, of Eustis, passed away on February 22, 2015. She was born October 21, 1927 in Walter Reed Hospital, Washington, D.C. to Charles Hillman Franklin (Col. U.S. Army) and Alexandrine Groslevin Franklin. During World War II, between the ages of 14 – 17, she worked with the Junior Army-Navy Guild Organization in Doctor’s Hospital and NCO Clubs in Washington, D.C. She was a Junior Warden in the Civil Defense Corps. She graduated from Central High School in 1946 and Stetson University in 1950 with a B.S. in Physical Education; she was a member of the Delta, Delta, Delta Sorority and a cheerleader for three years. While at Stetson she met and married John B. “Jack” Kirkpatrick on June 30, 1950. They were married in the chapel of Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. He was the “love of her life”. Her best accomplishments were her three children; Jack (Alice) Kirkpatrick of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, Suan (Fred) Rohrdanz of Eustis, Florida, and Franklin (Angela) Kirkpatrick of Eustis. Nan had been a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood from 1962 until 2009; she was a member and Past President of the Lake Sumter Community College Foundation, former member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church of Eustis and current member of Life Community Church of Eustis. Additional survivors include her sister Florida Borcher of Madison, Alabama, her grandchildren; Lesley Nan Ryden, Rick Rohrdanz, Lauren DeRenzo, Danny Rohrdanz, Caitlin Kirkpatrick, Nannie Kirkpatrick, McKinley Kirkpatrick, Jack Kirkpatrick and Annabelle Kirkpatrick and her great grandchildren; Caden DeRenzo, Skyler Ryden, Canyon Ryden, Brook Ryden, Hillman Ryden, Rebecca Rohrdanz, Maggie Rohrdanz and Danny and Courtney’s baby due in August. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 PM on Wednesday in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel. Funeral services will be held in Life Community Church, 2910 Dillard Road, Eustis at 10 AM Thursday, February 26th, interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis.
