Nancy Wood Lyons' Obituary
Nancy Wood Lyons passed away in Orlando, Florida on December 11, 2017. Nancy , 86, of Alexandria, Virginia was born on May 19, 1931 in Jefferson City, Tennessee. A graduate of the Alexandria School of Nursing, Class of 1951. Nancy worked as an RN at Alexandria Hospital and for several local Doctors. When she wasn’t working as a nurse, she pursued her love of sewing. She was well known throughout Northern Virginia Quilting circles as a gifted and talented quilter. This was evidenced by her numerous awards for quilting at the Virginia State Fair. She handmade her daughter’s wedding dresses garnering top honors at the VA State Fair for both.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Charles E Lyons. She is survived by her Son: Charles E Lyons III (Pam); Daughters: Carole L Howe (Byron), and Nancy Anne Lyons; Grandchildren: Lindsay, William, James, Caitlyn, and Garrett; brothers, Ed Wood (Bonnie), David Wood (Joyce), and Robert Wood.
Services will be at Fairlington United Methodist Church, 3900 King St, Alexandria, Va, on January 3, 2018 at 1PM. Cremation took place in Eustis, Fl. Interment will follow in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Fairlington United Methodist Church. Services have been entrusted to Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Directors. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on the tribute wall.
