I remember Mary Altys and Earl as favorite cousins. Always warm, cheerful, hospitable. My parents and I spent time with them in their mountain home a few months before my mother passed away in 1993. They were wonderful hosts, and our visit there is a vivid memory that I will always cherish. Laughter and generosity were dominant in their lives, and it was contagious. Mary Altys, Earl, my Mom and Dad (Billy & Miriam Maltby) go all the way back to Arcadia, Fl. in the early 50's. We moved to Ocoee and they went to Mount Dora. Our families had so much fun together over the years. My parents, Earl and Mary Altys bought land on the Withlacoochie River and built a cabin there. It was always a happy time going there on the weekends. I never remember seeing Mary Altys without a smile on her face. You couldn't find a more loving wife, mother or friend. She will be missed by many.

My mother was the most wonderful mother and woman. Never in my childhood do I remember her angry or in a bad mood. At times she thought Sam and I needed a spanking, but when she would try, Sam would start dancing around, and she would end up laughing. She loved all of us so much. Even at the end when she was not feeling well at all, her grandchildren, Wyatt, Adley, and Saela could always cheer her up. She was my best friend. I am going to miss her. There is a hole in my heart.

We loved Mary, she was always so kind to our family and we are so happy we were apart of it ! We had many memorable times, Easter egg hunts were the best , eggs galore! Thanksgiving & Christmas get together we’re always fun & lots of food. Several of my favorite receipes are from Mary. And never forget our trip to Franklin ... upon arrival Earl & Mary in their gardening mountain boots !!! And they carved Matt , Mason, Will & I walking sticks ! She will be greatly missed.
