Martin S. Day, 84, of 10 So. Claridge Ct., Palm Coast, Florida passed from this world on April 2, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Trion, GA, while working in Florida he met and married the late Janet Day in 1951. After retiring from the construction industry, he and Janet moved to Key Largo and in 1984, moved to Tavares. Martin moved to Palm Coast in 2001.Martin was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge No. 874. He had a passion for fishing, hunting, and gambling. Throughout his life he was never without a hobby, from raising guppies to flying model airplanes.Martin is survived by his son, Johnny Day, of Anderson, S.C., his daughters, Sharon Day O'Steen, of Deland, Florida, and Elaine D. Platt, of Tavares, Florida, his loving companion, Ruth Day of Palm Coast, Florida, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Dennis Day.Memorial services were held on April 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Hamlin & Hilbish, Eustis Chapel, 326 E. Orange Avenue, Eustis, Florida.In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Martin's memory to OdysseyHospice of Palm Coast or the American Cancer Society.
