MARTHA E. (MARTY) STRUCK
(nee McGroarty) Passed away peacefully on February 9, 2024 in Mt Dora, FL at the age of 99, eleven days shy of her 100th Birthday. She was reunited with her loving husband of 62 years Wallace Struck (deceased).
Preceded in death by her parents Edward and Anna McGroarty, brother Edward McGroarty and sister-in-law Mary Jo, brother-in-law Ralph Struck and wife Harriet. She is survived by her brother David McGroarty (Audrey), sister-in-law Barbara Baehring, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews.
Marty was employed at Blue Cross in Milwaukee for 42 years, retiring in 1984. She and Wallace spent summers in Wisconsin and winters in Florida for many years, and eventually sold their home in Wisconsin and became permanent residents of Florida. Upon Wallace’s death in 2010, Marty moved to Waterman Village in Mt Dora, FL. She was active at the Eustis Elks Lodge in Tavares, FL where she chaired many events, including the monthly fish fry her husband had started many years earlier, as well as the Ladies’ Annual Chest Raffle. Marty was a life member in the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Amvets in Mt Dora, FL.
Per Marty’s request, no services will be held. Private burial will be at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI with her husband. Hamlin and Hilbish Funeral Home of Eustis, FL is assisting the family.
The family would like to thank Irma Acker and the many staff members of Waterman Village for their loving and compassionate care of Marty, especially in the past year.
