Martha Anne Lanier's Obituary
Martha Anne Lanier of Eustis, Florida passed away on Monday November 20, 2023, at the age of 93. Martha was born to her parents Walton Leroy and Bessie French Read on August 3, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan. She was a member of the United States Navy from 1952-1954. She continued her work as a Civil Servant starting in the Navy and then the Air Force. Throughout her life due to being in the military she lived in Jacksonville, Florida, San Diego, California, Rhode Island, Georgia, and Ohio, before settling here in Eustis, Florida. She was of the Methodist faith. Martha was also a member of the master gardeners of Florida and was known for being an avid gardener with wisdom and knowledge of plants.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents Walton Leroy and Bessie Read; 2 sisters; 2 brothers; and her son Daniel K. Lanier.
Martha is survived by her children John “Neal” (Julie) Lanier Jr, Sally Lanier, and 4 grandchildren.
A small visitation will be held on Monday November 27, 2023, at the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel from 11am-12pm. On Tuesday November 28, 2023, at 11 AM she will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to go to Toys for Tots or a charity of your choice.
