Marjorie Agnes Bennett's Obituary
Marjorie Bennett died in her sleep on the morning of November 08, 2016 in Eustis, Florida, at 93 years of age. As Kenny Rogers says, “that’s the best we can hope.”
She was born in 1923 to Walter and Gladys Rohalla in Cook County, Chicago, Illinois. During World War II she worked at Huguet Fabrics Corporation on Thatcher Street in Hornell, New York making parachutes. She married C. Alton Bennett in the mid 1940s near Hornell where they had a son in 1945.
They moved to Eustis, Florida in 1947, and their daughter was born there in 1949. Marjorie has been a member of Saint Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church since that time. She belonged to the church's Sodality, designed for younger women, for many years. She worked at the Eustis Armory for the Lake County Supervisor of Elections for many years.
Predeceased family members are her parents and four brothers, Walter, Charles, Franklin and Edward, who lived in New York. She leaves a son, William Bennett [Vi] Lockhart, Florida; and to cherish her memory their daughter, Nancy B. Rinehart [Bob] Eustis, Florida; granddaughters, Stacey and Ashley Bennett Tallahassee, Florida; great granddaughter, Adison Pronovost Tallahassee, Florida; sister, Catherine Aspinwall Leesburg, Florida; many nieces and nephews; one first cousin.
Nancy shares that she is grateful to have had such a wonderful Mother who for example always brought cookies and punch to Girl Scouts whenever it was her turn, and was room mother at school for several years. These chores were done lovingly by her in addition to her already rigorous activities. She also adds that her Mom “Lived a hard life, and died what seems to her a difficult death--much for such a good woman to have had to endure”. Now she has ‘Gone with God’ to reunite with her loved ones, and feel no pain.
Thank you to the entire staff at Bayview Center in Eustis, Florida for always treating Mom with respect. Mostly, I saw their caring every time they helped her. They were always smiling and jovial around patients and families and always made time to be there for family members whatever their need.
Condolences, memories and photos may be shared on the tribute wall.
