Marilyn Virginia Lee's Obituary
Marilyn Virginia Lee, age 92, passed away peacefully at home on February 13, 2026, in Tavares, Florida. Virginia was born on December 22, 1933, in Atlanta, Georgia, to her loving parents Henry and Elizabeth Slappey.
Friends and family called her Ginny. Born deaf, she graduated from the Florida School for Deaf & Blind at St. Augustine in 1953 and married George Lee in 1954. She raised three children and worked many years in the manufacturing industry. In 1988 she returned to Florida, her original home, where she built a life filled with family, friends, and community.
She was an active participant in the Silent Neighbors Deaf Club, which she and George helped to establish in 1989. They formed community and cherished relationships there. She enjoyed simple pleasures—working puzzles, playing cards, visiting yard sales and, most of all, playing BINGO. She also was a devoted member of the Orange Avenue Church of Christ in Eustis.
Ginny is survived by her children Rick (and Sandi) Lee and Cindy Thiel; her grandchildren Bryan, Nate, Amanda, Brittnie, and Ben; and her great‑grandchildren Flora, Cassidy, Leiana, Marlee, Zion, and Liam.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home, Eustis FL followed by a processional to Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis FL for the final committal service.
Virginia will forever be remembered for her warm spirit, her kindness, her precious smile and the love she shared with all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
