Marie - A Grand Special Lady Indeed!

I have many fond memories of her mostly when I was a young boy growing up. Marie was married to Hubie, my Mom's Brother. There were many times that I had occasion to visit her and Hubie at their home and farm in Cold Brook. It was always a real treat and it always made a positive impression on me when I visited with them. I remember the Horses, the Bear Rug in the bedroom where I slept when I visited them. I also remember the large Lionel Train Set that meandered through the house. If my memory serves me correct their was also a large swimming pond out behind the house.

Please accept my sincere condolences to the entire family. She has passed, but she continues to live on in our hearts. Her memory will live on and never be forgotten.

Where do I even start? I had the honor of meeting Gram for the first time in October of 2005 shortly after I started dating her grandson, Todd. I was very excited to be taking a road trip to Cold Brook to meet her and visit the farm she and Todd both loved so dearly. I heard stories about all the special times spent with Grandma Marie and Grandpa Hubie and couldn’t wait to meet her. I just KNEW I was going to love her but I was not prepared at all!! Gram greeted me with a big hug, an even bigger smile and we shared tons of laughs those next couple days -- like we had known each other for years!

For nearly 11 years, I was simply fascinated by her endless smile, the constant twinkle in her eye, her physical and emotional strength, sense of humor, unforgettable feistiness and even more amazing -- her never-ending, positive approach to accepting whatever life’s circumstances crossed her path. She has been an inspiration to me since that day, whenever I think of her, I smile (and sometimes giggle) and I will miss her so; I do wish I had known her my entire life but know I will see her again someday.
