Lucile B. Long's Obituary
Lucile Busbee Long, formerly of Mount Dora and then Bokeelia, Florida since 2008, was born in Bonaire, Georgia in Houston County on September 21, 1928 to George Solomon and Leonora White Busbee, the last of their seven children. She passed into life with Christ on December 30, 2011. She was raised on the family farm in Kathleen, Georgia and later moved to Macon, Georgia where she worked behind the glove counter at Davidson’s. From there she worked as a telephone operator, plugging in the lines and saying, “Number, please.” A WWII war bride, she met and married her husband, Alton Long (pre-deceased) in Macon, Georgia. After the war, they moved to Oviedo, Florida where the couple began their lifelong work as employees for A. Duda & Sons. Lucile retired early from Duda as an office manager to their lakeside home in Mount Dora, Florida. There she fished off the dock and enjoyed gardening, crafts and painting the woodwork projects that her husband crafted. She later moved to Bokeelia, Florida. She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Long of Bokeelia, Florida; her grandson, Jason Scott Foures (Kristen) of Savannah, Georgia; her cousin Houston White of Paisley, Florida and many nieces, nephews and family members whom she loved dearly. The service for Lucile was held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Saturday January 7th at 11 AM with Rev. Bob Walker officiating. Interment followed in Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis. The family received friends in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Friday from 4 until 6 PM.
