Lorna Beatrice Slonaker Mayo
Lorna Slonaker, born August 6th,1926 in Dayton Ohio as the youngest of three daughters to Charles Slonaker and Ruth Conway Slonaker.
Lorna grew up in Maryland and married her childhood sweetheart Jack Martin Mayo. Together, they had two biological daughters Darlene Mayo Lewis and Patricia Mayo Trautsch. Later, adopted Martin Lee Mayo, ten days after his birth upon moving to Florida.
Lorna is survived by her children Martin and Patricia (Pat).
She was the last of the daughters; Lorna Slonaker Mayo, Virginia Slonaker Clark and Ethel Slonaker Wilhelm.
Lorna, known as "Bea" to all that knew her, was a mother first; and worked in various roles including switchboard operator, social work and supporting her family. Bea was the salt of the earth and welcoming to all that met her. She enjoyed bowling, her years living on Andros Island in the Bahamas, and her grand pups.
Bea and Jack were inseparable for 69 years of marriage after WWII. Living and surviving through the Great Depression, Dust Bowl and WWII. They were from, the Greatest Generation.
Lorna Bea Mayo, lived 95 years, 7 months and our family is proud and honored to call her; "Our Mother". ❤
