Linda R. Rayburn's Obituary
Linda R. Rayburn of Tavares passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at the age of 85. She was born on February 16, 1940, in Blossburg, Pennsylvania, to Charles G. and Ruth E. Mould.
In 1957, Linda moved to Tavares from Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, embracing a new chapter of her life in Florida. Linda graduated from Tavares High School in 1957. She attended Florida State University, graduating in 1961 with a B.S. in education. She began her career as an English teacher at Groveland High School and later continued her passion for education at Tavares High School.
During her time in Tavares, Linda met the love of her life, Hubert “Jack” Rayburn, and the two were married for a remarkable 49 years. Together, they shared a passion for horticulture and opened a nursery that became a cherished part of their lives. Linda was also an avid reader, finding joy and inspiration in books.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack, on February 1, 2011. Linda is lovingly remembered by her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Nancy Mould of Tallahassee, as well as several nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Linda’s kind spirit, love of learning, and devotion to her family and friends will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on Friday, March 21, from 1:30 to 2:00 PM, with a funeral ceremony starting at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. She will be placed with her husband, Jack at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. The family invites all to share condolences, memories, and photos on the tribute wall as a way to celebrate Linda’s remarkable life.
