Linda Jane Gifford's Obituary
Linda Jane Gifford, age 78, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025 at her home in Tavares, Florida. Born on November 23, 1946, in Albany, New York, she was the daughter of the late Frank K. and Doris M. Hazelton.
Linda was a graduate of Columbia High School in East Greenbush, NY, and Later pursued higher education at Ulster County Community College, earning an Associate of Science in Business Administration and Nursing. She then went on to National Louis University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration and certifications as an OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) and CDP (Certified Dementia Practitioner).
Throughout her life, Linda devoted herself to helping others. She worked as a Secretary and Administrative Assistant for various businesses in New York before pursuing a nursing career as an RN. Linda worked at various hospitals and nursing homes, specializing as an OCN and CDP.
In 2004, Linda and her husband moved to the Eustis and Tavares areas from Margate, Florida. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Eustis, where she volunteered her time for church-related activities. She also enjoyed being involved in the Tiki Village community.
Linda has been with her loving husband, Will R. Gifford, for 36 years. Together, they raised four children: Brian Gifford of Lincolnton, NC, Tim Gifford of Stanfordville, NY, Sidra Gifford of the Netherlands, and Grace Von Moritz (Craig Morrison) of Kinderhook, NY. She was also a proud grandmother to Oskar Golwala, Isla Gifford, Leo Von Moritz, and Charlotte Von Moritz.
She is survived by her siblings, Wayne K. Hazelton (Debra) of Greenville, NY, Frank K. Hazelton (Kim) of Auberry, CA, Jill M. Simoncic (John) of Waterford, NY, and Betty L. Schrom (Keith) of Clifton Pa rk, NY.
In addition to her family, Linda is remembered by countless friends and members of the communities she served. She was a kind, compassionate, and devoted person whose legacy of care and volunteerism will be cherished by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Eustis, Florida, or Cornerstone Hospice of Tavares, Florida.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Eustis, Florida, on Saturday January 18, 2025 at 10 AM to honor Linda's life and legacy.
Linda will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
