Leonard J. "Lenny" Praisler's Obituary
Leonard J. “Lenny” Praisler of Tavares passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the age of 88 years. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Lenny proudly served his country in the US Army in World War II. He was a Purple Heart recipient and also received the French Legion of Honor medal for his brave service in helping to liberate France during the war. Lenny, affectionately known as “Dad” by many, moved to the Tavares area in 1955 from Cleveland. In 1965 he relocated to Pompano Beach, FL and returned to Tavares in 1984. He retired from Ford after 25 years working in parts sales. He was a member of the Elks in Eustis and won Elk of the Year in 1993. Lenny was also a member of the AmVets in Mount Dora. He was a car enthusiast and loved to restore antique Fords. He belonged to the car clubs and could always be found at one of the local car shows. He was preceded in death in 2004 by his wife of 54 years, Louise. Lenny is remembered and will be dearly missed by his son, David Praisler and his wife, Mary Beth Swanson of Coconut Creek, FL; and his daughter, Susan Praisler of Mount Dora, FL. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, June 27 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a memorial ceremony starting at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Following the chapel ceremony, military honors will be given at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
