Kevan Eugene Flanagan's Obituary
Kevan Eugene Flanagan was born October 2, 1948 in Jersey City, NJ and died on August 30, 2020 in the Eustis, FL family home. Kevan served our country from August of 1969 to January of 1974 in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a Photo Lab Specialist in the 101st Airborne division and was stationed at Camp Eagle. Kevan was decorated with the following recognitions during his service: Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Expert Rifle (M-16). After the war, Kevan started working in the cable industry and eventually retired as Supervisor / Headend Technician of Time Warner Communications. His passions were Amateur (ham) radio and anything to do with technology and/or electronic devices. He also enjoyed racing of all kinds, riding motorcycles, watching the Miami Dolphins, and playing with his Catahoula hound “Bunny”.
Kevan was proceeded in death by his parents Lt. Col. Eugene Thomas Flanagan of the United States Army and Shirley E. Bingle Flanagan; and by his wife, Susan Fuller Flanagan. He is survived by his step-mother Betty Carter Flanagan of Oliver Springs, TN; former wife, Sandra Bionelli of Ormond Beach, FL and their son, Paul Thomas Flanagan and daughter-in-law, Doty Fletcher Flanagan, of New Smyrna Beach, FL; step-daughter Alexandra Fuller of Old Town, ME; step-son Matthew Englund of the United States Navy; grandson Jaden Shayne Flanagan of Port Orange, FL; step-grandchildren Jasmine and King Marotte of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Sierra Babineau of Old Town, ME; sister Sharon Bedard of Knoxville, TN; niece Vickie Jo Ellis and nephew Randy Bedard of Knoxville, TN; and cousins Corey Bingle of Berwick, PA; Bonnie Bingle Hamilton of Aiken, SC; Marie Bingle of Columbia, SC; Melanie Bingle Marsh of Deltona, FL; Tiffany Bingle Haigh of Jacksonville, FL; Stephanie Bingle Showalter of St. Augustine, FL; and many other loved ones.
Family and friends will be holding a celebration of life for Kevan at the VFW Post 4250 – “The Little V” (location – 2350 Sunset Drive, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168) on October 10, 2020 at 3pm.
