Joseph B. Simmons' Obituary
Joseph B. Simmons of Eustis ended his journey peacefully at home with family on May 9, 2013. Born in Monticello, Indiana on July 4, 1937, Joe was the only child of Lucille (Burley) and Brady Simmons.
Joe was a veteran of the Navy and served during the Korean War aboard the USS Hornet.
Joe became a very accomplished man throughout his life sharing his knowledge and kindness. He was respected by all who knew him. Joe enjoyed travel, family, and was an avid classic car enthusiasts. He served his community through functioning as a builder and entrepreneur. Joe was active in the American Legion and the 40 & 8.
Joe leaves behind the love of his life, Sandra (Adkinson) Simmons. He is also survived by two children; Joetta Tassotti (Frank) of Erie, Pennsylvania, and James B. Simmons of Monticello, Indiana, two grandchildren; Brady Simmons of Crawfordsville, Indiana, Jenna Simmons of Newburg, Indiana, and three amazing great grandchildren; Nathan, Lauren, and Carly Simmons also from Crawfordsville, Indiana. Joe also leaves behind his brother-in-law; Mike Adkinson of Atlanta, Georgia.
Joe Simmons will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 11, 2013 at 10:00 a. m. in the First Presbyterian Church in Eustis. The family requests that donations to the First Presbyterian Church Mission Fund, 117 S. Center Street, Eustis, FL 32726, be made in lieu of flowers.
