Joseph Howell Knowles' Obituary
Joseph Howell Knowles of Umatilla, Florida passed away on Tuesday November 26, 2024, at the age of 80. He was born to his father Henry (Grace) Knowles and mother Oleene Sadler Knowles in Portsmouth, Virginia on September 3, 1944. On August 20, 1966, he married the love of his life Denise!
Joseph earned a bachelor degree in Medical Entomology from the University of Florida in 1968, he then worked for Sarasota County Mosquito Control before joining the United States Army as Spec 5 Sargent and Medic. In 1971 he and his wife Denise moved to Clermont Florida where they raised their three children and would reside for 29 years. After working with Tower Chemical, he started his own business “Knowles Pest Control” until eventually selling the business and working for Seminole County Schools as a pest Control operator where he retired in 2008.
Joseph enjoyed many hobbies over the course of his life! He enjoyed Scuba diving, photography, developing his own photos, running, fishing and had a passion for guns, reloading, he was a certified gun range, ranger, and a member of the SAS Historical reenactment group . Another great joy was his years spent as a Boy Scout Leader.
Joseph is preceded in death by his son Andrew Howell Knowles.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife Denise Knowles; children Kerry (Jeff) Julich, Jessica (Matthew) Zinn; brother Steve (Susan) Knowles; grandchildren Kiana Knowles, Mattie (Chase) Campbell, Chet Julich; and expected birth of his first great grand son, Eli Joseph Campbell, arriving in April 2025
A memorial service will be held at Hamlin and Hilbish on Saturday December 14, 2024 at 1 PM. A gathering will take place prior from 12 PM - 1 PM.

Parking for Hamlin & Hilbish will be in the parking lot across the street next to Lake Eustis Christian Church. There will be cones, a sign, and possible police assistance with crossing. For those unable to walk or needing additional assistance there is parking in the back of the building.
