John Richard Way's Obituary
John Richard Way was 87 years old when he passed away on January 22, 2026. John was born in Nashville, Tennessee and moved to Florida in 2004 to enjoy his retirement.
He was a member of the National Guard for several years. He graduated from Hume Fog Technical School in Nashville, Tennessee, from there he became a draftsman, a career he maintained for several years. He liked to travel, through his work he was able to visit Europe and Saudi Arabia. Las Vegas was a place he enjoyed vacationing in as well as Florida which eventually led him to move to Leesburg FL.
His hobbies were many, boating from a young age is a passion he held for his entire life. He also was a pilot, and he loved to fly his personal airplane whenever he could. His other hobbies over the years included making model airplanes, going to the shooting range, working on and driving sports cars and photography. In the 1960’s and 1970’s with his wife, Anita, John was active in the Nashville Ballet Society, John as a lighting and sound manager during the annual ballet season, Anita was a seamstress. John loved his dogs and had many over the course of his life. John had a great sense of humor and loved to hear and tell a good story. He was a member of the NRA and the Triangle Boat Club.
John is predeceased by his parents Adele and John Way. He is survived by his loving wife Anita Way, daughter Stephanie Way(John Joseph Rojo), granddaughters Rachel Hager, Liana Cubernot, Robyn Lovell and great granddaughters Ava Cubernot, Elsie Cubernot and Sophie Cubernot.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 am followed by the service at 11:00 am at the Hamlin and Hilbish Funeral Home in Eustis, Florida. He will be laid to rest at Lakeside Memory Gardens.
