John J. Mollica's Obituary
John J. Mollica of Grand Island, Florida passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the age of 81 years. He was born in Waltham, Massachusetts, to Felix and Rose Mollica. At the age of 18, he joined the US Navy and fought in the Korean War. He served 8 years in the Navy and Naval Reserves.
After returning to the states, John met Barbara in 1962. They were married in 1964. John started M&M Fabricators, Inc. in Watertown, Massachusetts. He operated his sheet metal business for over 25 years before retiring. Living in Massachusetts, John loved the water. And went boating and fishing whenever he had the chance.
In 1992, he and Barbara relocated to Florida. They moved to Lake County in 2007. Living in Florida, John became an avid Golfer.
He is remembered and will be dearly missed by his wife of 50 years, Barbara; sons and daughters-in-law, John “Jay” and Angel Mollica of Yalaha, FL, and Vincent and Jami Mollica of Sanford, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Rui DaRosa of Oviedo, FL; grandchildren, Dylan DaRosa, Brianna DaRosa, Carson DaRosa and Marcus Mollica; brother, Ronald Mollica of Summerton, SC; sisters, Marilyn Timo of Naples, FL and Linda Proia of Ashland, Mass. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, January 10th from 10:00 am – 11:00 am and a memorial ceremony will follow beginning at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel.
A private interment will be held at a later date in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
