Joel V. Turner's Obituary
Joel V. Turner was born in Gadsden, Alabama and was one of nine children. As a young man he was very active in sports and scouting. Joel held various positions in the retail industry before settling into his life’s work as a Regional Director where he retired from Holiday Retirement Senior Living Communities of Florida. In retirement, he went on to be a professional guardian in Lake and Sumter Counties.
Throughout his life, Joel impacted the lives of many. He selflessly worked to better others through his on personal contributions. He was known for his ability to find humor in every situation. His greatest gift was that of unconditioned love for is wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchild. Joel met the love of his life, JoAnn Turner on Feb. 14th, 1958. That would be his first and only love. They would go on to share a wonderful life of love and friendship that would weather many storms. Joel passed peacefully in his sleep May 14th 2019.
He will be remembered and will be dearly missed by his wife of 58 years, JoAnn; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Christina Turner of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Anthony De’Angelo of Palm Coast, Florida; brother, Ted Turner of Palm Coast; sister, Juanita Pentecost of Athens, Alabama; 5 grandchildren, Sydney Swalley, Grayden Turner, Isabella Turner, Olivia Turner and Tristan Turner; and 1 great grandson, Roman Turner. Joel will be laid to rest next month in his hometown of Gadsden, Alabama.
